A hill with a castle located on the curve of the Ljubljanica River, which surrounds it from three sides, is a popular tourist attraction; from the fourth side the Gruber canal was made. Thus, the major part of the Old Town lies on the island. The history of this place dates back to the medieval period, however the castle on the hill has been already reconstructed a couple of times. The chapel of St George from the 15th century with frescos and coat-of-arms of Carniolian provincial generators and archaeological exhibitions are the most interesting.
