Climate
The major part of the country is under the influence of the temperate warm
climate. Only the south coasts of France enjoy the Mediterranean climate. The
climate is characterized by high humidity which results from the ocean’s
influence. In the western part, the rainfalls amount to more than 1,000 millimeters
annually and average monthly temperatures range between 7°C in winter and
17°C in summer. In the east, the amount of rainfall decreases, and annual
temperatures rise (0,8°C-19°C). The Mediterranean climate is characterized
by higher temperatures (7,5°C-24°C), much rainfall in the autumn-winter
period and dry, warm summer. The local wind in the Rodan valley is a cold and
dry mistral blowing from the north.
